JERUSALEM, October 13, 2026 (WAFA) – The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and Head of the Supreme Fatwa Council, Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, issued a religious ruling (fatwa) affirming the prohibition of purchasing olive oil and olives stolen from Palestinian trees and sold by Israeli colonists.
He cited the grave harm involved in such actions—specifically, that they empower the usurping occupier of Palestinian land—and called for concerted official and public efforts to reject the sale and purchase of usurped and stolen goods.
In the text of the fatwa, the Grand Mufti explained that the fundamental rule is the prohibition of purchasing stolen property, as the seller neither owns the goods nor has the right to dispose of them.
He noted that purchasing stolen items encourages adversaries to seize Palestinian land, plunder its resources, and displace its inhabitants.
