RAMALLAH, August 2, 2026 (WAFA) — The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said on Sunday that female Palestinian detainees at Israel's Damon prison continue to face ongoing violations by the prison administration.

In a statement, the commission said a lawyer who visited the detainees reported that detainee Amna Suweilim, 55, from Nablus, who has been held since November 3, 2025, described the detention conditions at Damon prison as extremely harsh and difficult.

The commission added that Suweilim suffers from shoulder pain caused by a torn tendon, in addition to thyroid problems and an abdominal muscle hernia.

The lawyer also conveyed the testimony of detainee Leila Khalil, 22, from Beitunia, west of Ramallah, who has been detained since June 2, 2026 and is being held in isolation. Khalil said prison conditions are “extremely poor,” noting that the food provided in terms of quality and quantity is inadequate.

She added that the daily outdoor break period does not exceed one hour, and that many female detainees are unable to shower due to limited time.
