Israeli colonists seize home, raze lands near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, July 1, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists on Wednesday evening seized a Palestinian home and razed a tract of land in the towns of Atara and Kafr Ni'ma, north and west of Ramallah, according to local and security sources.

They reported that dozens of colonists stormed a Palestinian-owned home in the "Sirfin" area, east of 'Atara, smashing its contents and bringing in their own furniture.

They noted that this follows an incident a few months ago, when colonists set up five tents and brought hundreds of sheep as a prelude to seizing vast tracts of land, east of the town, using the outpost to launch arson and vandalism attacks.

Meanwhile, colonists escorted bulldozers to the Hawd al-Najma area, opposite Jabal al-Raysan, in the village of Kafr Ni'ma, where the heavy machinery leveled tracts of land.

In the meantime, Israeli forces set up military checkpoints at the entrances of Aboud and Yabrud villages, northwest and east of Ramallah, stopping Palestinian-licensed vehicles and inspecting passengers’ ID cards.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
