JENIN, June 17, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli bulldozers continued for the second consecutive day leveling and excavating land in the al-Jabriyat neighborhood in the center of Jenin, with the aim of establishing an Israeli military camp.
WAFA correspondent, citing local sources, reported that the works are taking place on a seven-dunum agricultural plot that Israeli authorities previously seized from its owners, despite the land being classified as Area A under existing administrative arrangements.
Landowner Mansour Qabha said that Israeli forces seized the land, which belongs to him and his family, despite their possession of official land deeds proving their ownership.
He also said that they were notified of the seizure order under the pretext that it would be used for Israeli military purposes.
He added that the seven-dunam plot belongs to ten people, emphasizing that the establishment of the military camp on the site threatens the lives of his family and the residents of the area, exposing them to the risk of eviction and displacement.
Last week, Israeli forces evacuated two inhabited homes located near the confiscated land, forcing their residents to leave in preparation for completing the camp's construction.
The planned base overlooks Jenin Refugee Camp, which has been subjected to widespread forced evictions since the start of the Israeli offensive on Jenin city and camp on January 21, 2015.
The offensive has resulted in the displacement of approximately 21,000 residents, while nearly 50% of the camp's buildings have been completely or partially destroyed and rendered uninhabitable.
