ICRC facilitates transfer of 15 released detainees from Gaza

GAZA, April 26, 2026 (WAFA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Sunday that it facilitated the transfer of 15 detainees released from the Gaza Strip, helping move them from the Karm Abu Salem Crossing to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.

In a statement, the ICRC said it also helped reconnect the released detainees with their families.

The organization noted that it has not been able to access detainees held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023, stressing the need to be informed of the fate and whereabouts of all detainees and to be granted access to them.

It emphasized that under international humanitarian law, detainees must be treated humanely, provided with adequate conditions of detention, and allowed to communicate with their families.

The ICRC added that many Palestinian families are anxiously awaiting news about their detained loved ones, expressing concern over their health and safety, and affirmed that it continues dialogue with Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian detainees.
