RAMALLAH, March 25, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Commission of Detainees' and Ex-Detainess Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) stated that Israeli occupation forces executed Qassem Amjad Shuqairat, 21, from the Jabal al-Mukabber neighborhood of Jerusalem, while detaining him on Wednesday. This crime adds to the hundreds of extrajudicial killings that have reached their peak following the ongoing genocide.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, the Commission and the Society explained that the occupation forces shot Shuqairat after storming his home, then detained him without disclosing his fate, before his death was later announced.
The two organizations condemned this crime, which once again reflects the brutality practiced by the occupation regime around the clock against Palestinians, targeting their very existence by killing more of them.
The Commission and PPS pointed out that extrajudicial killings have been, and remain, one of the most prominent systematic policies pursued by the occupation for decades, and have witnessed an unprecedented escalation since the genocide. This includes the execution of citizens during detention operations in the West Bank, where occupation soldiers deliberately fire live ammunition directly at Palestinians during raids and detentions, with the intent to kill.
The two organizations emphasized that this crime comes just hours after the National Security Committee approved a draft law to execute prisoners, which is one of the tools the occupation is using to entrench the genocide of prisoners through legal frameworks. This occurs amidst the continued complicity of the international system and its support for the occupation in perpetuating its genocidal crimes and its racist settler-colonial system, which aims to eliminate the Palestinian presence.
