GAZA, February 15, 2026 (WAFA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) facilitated the transfer of two Palestinian detainees released from Israeli prisons from the Kerem Abu Salem crossing to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital on Sunday.
The ICRC also assisted in their communication and reunion with their families.
It explained that it has been unable to access detainees held in Israeli detention centers since October 2023. It stressed the need to be informed of the fate of all detainees, their places of detention, and to be granted access to them.
The ICRC emphasized that international humanitarian law mandates humane treatment of detainees, the provision of acceptable detention conditions, and the right to communicate with their families. It noted that many Palestinian families are still anxiously awaiting news of their detained loved ones and are deeply concerned for their health and safety.
The committee noted that it continues its dialogue with the Israeli occupation authorities to resume its visits to all Palestinian detainees in a manner that guarantees their basic rights in accordance with international law.
