Israeli military court sentences Palestinian prisoner to life imprisonment and imposes heavy fine

RAMALLAH, December 4, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said that the Israeli military court at Ofer prison sentenced prisoner Hayel Issa Abdel-Jaber Deifallah, 59, from the town of Rafat, south of Ramallah, to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay 1.5 million shekels in compensation.

The sentence was handed down during a hearing held on Wednesday. Deifallah was represented in court by attorney Akram Samara from the Commission.

Both organizations emphasized that Deifallah was detained in September 2024 after being shot and wounded by Israeli forces. Subsequently, as part of a policy of collective punishment and reprisal, Israeli authorities demolished his family's home in March 2025.

They further pointed out that this latest ruling brings the number of Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences in Israeli jails to 115.
