Palestinian Prisoners’ Society confirms escalation of Israeli arrests and collective punishment

RAMALLAH, December 2, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said that Israeli authorities continue an unprecedented escalation of systematic arrests following the so-called war of extermination, with approximately 21,000 arrests in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, in addition to thousands of Palestinians in Gaza.

In a statement, the PPS affirmed that Israeli authorities are perpetrating further systematic crimes against detainees and their families, which constitute an extension of the war of extermination.

The statement emphasized that the daily arrest figures not only reflect the increasing numbers but also the escalating level of accompanying crimes, most notably the extrajudicial killings carried out by the occupation army. These killings are accompanied by legislative efforts in the occupying state to enact a law permitting the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners.

The PPS affirmed that all current occupation crimes are an extension of its decades-long policy of targeting the Palestinian presence and imposing further tools of repression, control, and surveillance, but the intensity of violations has dramatically increased since the onset of the recent war.

It further pointed out that the demolition of the homes of prisoners Abdul Karim Sanoubar and Ayman Ghanem earlier today is part of Israel's ongoing attempt to target the Palestinian presence and implement collective punishment. These operations have escalated to unprecedented levels since the start of the genocidal war.
