RAMALLAH, November 2, 2025 (WAFA) – The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission reported today that conditions for Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prison of Megiddo have continued to deteriorate since the ceasefire agreement in mid-October.
In a statement released on Sunday, the commission said that the living and health conditions of prisoners are worse than in previous periods. They are subjected to repeated beatings and repression, and prison administration frequently transfers them between cells without prior notice, increasing tension within the sections.
The statement noted that outdoor exercise is not provided daily, and winter clothing has not yet been distributed despite cold weather.
A lawyer from the commission added that medical services are nearly nonexistent. Prisoners are allowed to shower only during outdoor exercise, while food rations have decreased in both quantity and quality.
Hygiene items are scarce. Shaving and nail-cutting tools are rarely provided, and very limited amounts of personal care products are distributed, including a quarter cup of shampoo and one roll of tissue per prisoner each week.
The commission condemned these practices as a flagrant violation of the prisoners’ human and legal rights and called on international bodies to intervene urgently to end the abuses and ensure humane detention conditions in accordance with international law.
