RAMALLAH, October 26, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS) revealed today that Israeli authorities continue to detain 49 Palestinian women, including two young girls and one prisoner from Gaza, subjecting them to organized and systematic crimes inside Israeli prisons and interrogation centers.
In a statement issued on Sunday, marking the Palestinian Women's National Day, which falls on October 26 each year, the PPS stressed that the scale of these abuses has intensified to unprecedented levels since the outbreak of the ongoing genocide, which has become the deadliest phase in Palestinian history. The society noted that the effects of this war continue to leave deep scars on the lives of imprisoned women.
The PPS further explained that the period following the outbreak of the genocide has led to drastic changes in the conditions of women prisoners, accompanied by a series of crimes committed by the Israeli suppression system. These include torture, deliberate starvation, medical neglect, and sexual assaults—most notably, strip searches, harassment, and cases of sexual assault documented by the organization by prison guards.
Other forms of abuse include psychological terror, threats of rape, systematic repression, repeated raids, physical assault, and humiliation, with some women being forced to kneel while bound, all while enduring offensive verbal abuse that degrades their human dignity.
