RAMALLAH, October 22, 2025 (WAFA) – The Detainees and Ex-Detainees' Affairs Commission, in a statement issued after its lawyer visited a number of prisoners inside the Negev desert prison, revealed the disastrous humanitarian and health conditions prisoners are experiencing, in light of the policy of deliberate neglect and systematic harassment practiced against them by the prison administration.
The Commission stated in a statement today that prisoners are suffering from a widespread outbreak of skin diseases due to the lack of hygiene and a serious shortage of cleaning materials, while the administration deliberately deprives them of the most basic necessities of a healthy life.
It also explained that the meals provided to them are meager, poor, and unfit for human consumption, exacerbating their daily suffering.
The Commission confirmed that the cold weather is ravaging the prisoners' bodies, given the lack of winter clothing and warm blankets. Many of them spend long nights without sleep due to the severe cold and deliberate neglect by the prison administration.
It noted that Israeli repression units continue to storm prisoners' rooms, brutally assault them, and seize their personal belongings as part of an ongoing policy of intimidation. They also deny prisoners access to necessary medical treatment despite their deteriorating health conditions inside the prison cells.
The Commission concluded its statement by warning of the dangerous conditions inside the Negev prison, calling on international and human rights organizations to urgently intervene to put an end to these escalating violations and hold the occupation authorities fully responsible for the lives and physical and psychological well-being of the prisoners.
