UNRWA: Infants in Gaza going to bed hungry due to severe shortages of essential supplies

NEW YORK, April 12, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that all essential supplies in Gaza are nearly depleted, raising fears that even infants are going to bed hungry.

In a statement released Saturday, Juliette Touma, UNRWA's Director of Communications, called for immediate international action to prevent the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Touma emphasized that six weeks into the Israeli-imposed blockade, which has halted both humanitarian aid and commercial supplies, food stocks are nearly exhausted. She reported that bakeries have shut down and hunger is spreading rapidly among the population.

"This is a man-made crisis that requires urgent action," Touma stated, urging an unimpeded delivery of essential aid and supplies without further delay.
