Palestinian detainees at Israel’s Ofer prison endure dire conditions

RAMALLAH, March 5, 2025 (WAFA) – The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that detainees at Israel’s "Ofer" prison are living under extremely harsh conditions. There are currently 110 detainees from various areas of the West Bank held at Ofer.

According to the Commission's lawyer, based on testimonies from the detainees, the prison administration of Ofer has intensified its repression measures against the detainees, conducting raids up to three times a week, targeting three to four rooms during each raid.

The lawyer further explained that the detainees have been deprived of hot water for the past 45 days due to a lack of fuel to heat the water. Most detainees have not bathed for over 40 days.

Regarding the pre-dawn meal before fasting during the holy month of Ramadan (Suhoor), the detainees are only given three slices of bread, a small spoonful of jam or a small carton of yogurt to share among 12 detainees.

The lawyer also noted that all the detainees who were visited had been subjected to brutal beatings during their detention.
