BEIRUT, November 9, 2024 (WAFA) – The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced today that at least seven people, including two children, were killed and 46 others wounded in Israeli airstrikes on the southern Lebanese city of Tyre (Sur) on Friday evening.
According to a statement from the Ministry's Public Health Emergency Operations Center, the Israeli bombardment that targeted Tyre overnight resulted in the murder of seven individuals, including two children. The strikes also left 46 people injured, with several in critical condition.
The Ministry added that efforts are ongoing to identify the victims through DNA testing, as some body parts were found at the scene.
Rescue teams continue to work at the site, searching through the rubble for any additional survivors or missing persons.
Earlier on Friday, the Lebanese National News Agency reported an initial toll of six people killed and 38 injured, with rescue operations continuing throughout the evening. The attacks involved both Israeli fighter jets and drones, which struck civilian areas in the city of Tyre, causing widespread damage.
The death toll and injury figures are expected to rise as search and rescue operations continue into the weekend.
