RAMALLAH, Sunday, June 23, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces conducted a series of detentions across the West Bank since last night until this morning, rounding up at least 20 individuals, including minors, a high school student, and former prisoners, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS).
The arrests were concentrated in Hebron Governorate, with additional cases reported in Nablus, Ramallah, Qalqilya, Jericho, and Tubas. Reports accompanying the arrests indicate widespread mistreatment of the detainees, including severe beatings, threats against detainees and their families, and extensive property damage.
According to PPS, this latest wave of detentions brings the total number of Palestinians arrested in the occupied West Bank since October last year to more than 9,345.
The tally includes individuals taken from their homes, apprehended at military checkpoints, those coerced into surrendering under pressure, and those taken as hostages to pressure wanted family members to surrender.
Not only has the number of detainees surged, the report says, but so have the reported atrocities associated with these operations. Incidents include raids on the homes of detainees' families, often resulting in widespread destruction and vandalism.
