President Abbas meets Jordanian King Abdullah II on sidelines of "Gaza Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference"

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (WAFA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met today with the Jordanian King Abdullah II, on the sidelines of the "Gaza Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference" hosted by Jordan.

President Abbas thanked the Jordanian King for hosting the international conference, saying it is an important step for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, who are being subjected to the crime of inhuman genocide and starvation by Israel.

The President voiced his appreciation for the important role played by Jordan in stopping the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

During the meeting, The President discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, stressing the necessity of immediately stopping the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, withdrawing the occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip, and accelerating the entry of aid to avoid the dangers of real famine as a result of the occupation’s control of all crossings in the Strip and their closure, and the importance of releasing Immediate information on regarding the withholding Palestinian funds.

The President reiterated that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian state, and falls under its responsibility and administration, and it is not possible to accept or deal with the occupation’s plans to separate it.

The President touched on the crimes and ethnic cleansing operations carried out by the occupation army and the colonists against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, and the daily attacks on the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, the latest of which was the provocative so-called “flag march.”

The President affirmed that the State of Palestine is continuing its efforts to obtain full membership in the United Nations, stressing the need to continue mobilizing efforts and support to obtain more recognition of the State of Palestine.

 The President further praised Jordan's efforts to seek to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people, bring in humanitarian aid, provide medical services through field hospitals, and support the Palestinian cause in all international forums.

For his part, the Jordanian King stressed the need to make efforts to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and to bring humanitarian, relief and medical aid into the Strip.

The "Gaza Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference" kicked off today in Jordan with the participation of Heads of State and Governments and leaders of international humanitarian organizations to identify ways to strengthen the response of the international community to the humanitarian disaster in the war-torn Gaza Strip.
