Israeli forces set up checkpoint at entrance of Salfit-district town

SALFIT, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces today set up a checkpoint at the entrance of the town of Deir Istiya, northwest of the West Bank city of Salfit, according to local sources.

They said that the occupation forces erected a checkpoint on the alternative road used by Palestinians, inspecting vehicles and checking the identity cards of passengers.

The occupation forces have been sealing off the entrance of the town for several months, closing it with earth mounds.

Israeli severely restricts Palestinians’ freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions.

Closures besides to other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel’s 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
