MANAMA, Thursday, May 16, 2024 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met today with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, on the sidelines of the 33rd Arab League Summit held at Al-Sakhir Palace in Manama, Bahrain.

During the meeting, President Abbas briefed King Hamad on the latest developments in Palestine, focusing on the relentless Israeli attacks on Gaza and the ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire.

He reiterated his warning about the dangers of the Israeli invasion of Rafah, the persistent closure of border crossings, and the prevention of humanitarian aid, which he said could exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.

The President also addressed the alarming escalation of Israeli violations in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the ongoing crimes committed by Israeli settlers, as well as the attacks against Islamic and Christian holy sites, particularly in Jerusalem.

In addition, President Abbas discussed the severe economic and financial challenges facing Palestine, due to the continued Israeli government’s withholding of Palestinian tax funds.
