PM Mustafa meets with Algerian President and counterparts, discuss situation in Palestine

ALGIERS, Sunday, April 14, 2024 (WAFA) –  Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammed Mustafa, met today with the Algerian president and his counterparts in the capital city of Algeria, Algiers, where they discussed the latest developments of the situation in Palestine, including the ongoing Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip.

During his meeting with the Algerian president, Mustafa stressed the need to put an end to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and to the genocidal war waged against them in the Gaza Strip. Mustafa also emphasized the need to step up humanitarian relief efforts and accelerate the introduction of aid into the Strip.

He asserted the need to prevent the forced displacement of the Strip’s population and the ground invasion of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.

Mustafa conveyed the greetings and gratitude of President Mahmoud Abbas to the Algerian president for his unwavering position in support of the Palestinian cause.

He praised Algeria's ongoing efforts to rally an international consensus to end the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, support Palestine’s bid for full membership in the United Nations and mobilize support for the recognition of the Palestinian State.

Mustafa appreciated Algeria's exceptional role in assisting the Palestinian people since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and in launching airlift operations to send urgent medical and humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing with Egypt.

He also thanked the Algerian president for receiving the injured in Algerian hospitals and providing them with the necessary medical treatment.

For his part, the Algerian President reiterated his commitment to exert all possible efforts in order to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people, stressing his firm support for the just Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of Palestinians, including an end to the occupation, the right to freedom and independence and the establishment of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as is capital.

During a separate meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, Mustafa discussed the need to enhance efforts to stop the occupation’s aggression against the Palestinian people, as well as relief and humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip.

They also tackled the Palestinian efforts to obtain full membership in the United Nations.

Mustafa reviewed the developments in the Palestinian territories in light of the continued aggression and genocidal war waged against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the attacks and terrorism of the colonists in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

Mustafa stressed that the priorities of the Palestinian leadership and government are to stop the aggression and provide urgent relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, achieve economic recovery and strengthen the steadfastness of the people on their lands.

He affirmed the keenness of the Palestinian leadership and government to continue diplomatic efforts with international partners to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, most importantly ending the occupation and establishing an independent state.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also met with Algerian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf, and discussed joint diplomatic efforts, commending Algeria's support and its active role in mobilizing international support to achieve the Palestinian quest.

"We learn from the achievements of the Algerian people and their experience in struggle and independence...we are working, building and establishing on the path to salvation from the occupation, and our people are continuing their struggle to achieve freedom, independence and the establishment of their state," Mustafa said.

For his part, the Algerian Foreign minister affirmed that his country stands in the face of all attempts to liquidate and exclude the Palestinian issue and works at all levels to support the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
