President Abbas briefs the Turkish President on the latest developments

 

RAMALLAH, Friday, April 12, 2024 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, received a phone call from the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which the officials discussed latest developments in the Palestinian territories.

The President Abbas briefed his Turkish counterpart on the ongoing Israeli aggression waged against the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, which has so far resulted in the killing of over 30,000 people, the majority of whom were children and women.  

The President also affirmed the urgent need to accelerate the entry of humanitarian relief and medical aid, to stop the war of genocide, and to prevent the forcible displacement of the Palestinian people.

He further pointed out to the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The President also stressed the importance of the State of Palestine gaining full membership in the United Nations, praising Turkey’s role and positions in support of the Palestinian cause in international forums.

For his part, President Erdogan affirmed his country's ongoing support of the Palestinian people and their just cause, until they achieve their full legitimate rights.

The President and his Turkish counterpart exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
