RAMALLAH, Wednesday, April 3, 2024 (WAFA) - This evening, President Mahmoud Abbas and his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, engaged in a phone conversation that discussed the latest political developments in Palestine.
During the call, President Abbas briefed his Algerian counterpart on the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the urgent need to immediately halt the genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people.
The President stressed the importance of expediting the entry of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid into Gaza, preventing displacement of the Palestinian people, and stopping the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
President Abbas commended Algeria's steadfast support for the just Palestinian cause, praising Algeria's efforts in international forums, notably in the UN Security Council. He commended Algeria's ongoing initiatives to garner international consensus to halt the aggression against the Palestinian people and to advocate for full membership of the State of Palestine in the UN.
President Abbas also thanked Algeria for its assistance to the people of Gaza and its diligent work towards Palestinian unity and achieving national reconciliation.
In response, President Tebboune reiterated Algeria's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, reaffirming its intensive efforts to halt the aggression on Gaza and support the realization of legitimate Palestinian rights in an independent state.
President Tebboune stressed that Algeria is exerting all efforts and engaging with all international and regional parties to cease the aggression against the Palestinian people.
