Presidency praises positions of several countries rebuffing Israel's recolonization attempts in Gaza

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, January 30, 2024 (WAFA) -  The Presidency, in a statement today, praised the positions of several countries in the world, including Germany, Britain, France and the United States, rebuffing Israel’s attempts to recolonize the Gaza Strip and slamming such measures as a violation of international law.

The Presidency stressed that these condemnations reject any calls and attempts aimed at the recolonization of Gaza because such calls contravene international law and reveal the aggressive intentions of Israel, the occupying power.

“It is long overdue to implement the resolutions of international legitimacy and international law on the occupied Palestinian territory and to put an end to Israel’s crime of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement of Palestinians, whether in the Gaza Strip or the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem,” read the statement.

The Presidency said that the binding order of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) affirmed that Palestinians had a right to be protected from acts of genocide and ordered Israel to prevent the expulsion and forced displacement of Palestinians from their homes in direct contravention of all relevant international Charters and conventions.

Concerning the “Zionist” meeting that was held in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday by several Israeli politicians, including ministers of Israel's new right-wing coalition government and Knesset members, the Presidency slammed it as a blatant defiance of the ICJ’s ruling.
