President Abbas affirms during call with Netherlands' prime minister need for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, November 8, 2023 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas received tonight a telephone call from the prime minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, during which President Abbas affirmed the need for a ceasefire and to immediately stop the genocide committed against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The president stressed the need to bring in humanitarian aid to the Strip, stop the attacks of Israeli occupation forces and racist colonists against Palestinians, and release the withheld Palestinian funds Israel illegally deducts from the clearance tax revenues without any deductions

for an immediate stop to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Strip, asserting the importance of bringing in relief aid to the strip as soon as possible and preventing the displacement of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including Jerusalem, which he stressed is utterly rejected and will not be accepted.

President Abbas affirmed the importance of implementing a political solution based on the international legitimacy of the United Nations for the attainment of freedom, independence, and sovereignty by the Palestinian people, which he stressed would ensure security and stability for everyone in the region

He affirmed the importance of recognizing the State of Palestine, stating that there is no security, nor military solution to the Strip, and that “Gaza is an integral part of the state of Palestine,” adding that the plans of Israeli occupation authorities cannot be accepted nor dealt with.

The president said: "We are the makers of the independent national decision and the policies and decisions of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, is the body that governs our actions," affirming that any solution must be comprehensive within the independent Palestinian State, which includes the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

President Abbas expressed his profound thanks to the Prime Minister for the humanitarian and development assistance provided by the Netherlands to the Palestinian people, for its role in increasing this aid, and for playing a role in peace based on the two-state solution and in accordance with UN resolutions.
