RAMALLAH, Monday, November 6, 2023 (WAFA) – The Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said that the Israeli occupation escalated the detention of Palestinian women and holding them hostage after October 7th, in light of the comprehensive aggression against the Palestinian people.
The PPS stated, in a statement on Monday that the number of documented cases of detention of women reached more than 60, the majority of whom were later released, after being held hostage, or released on conditions, as happened specifically in Jerusalem, and within the territories of 1948.
The group added that other women continue to be detained on charges related to incitement, noting that Israeli authorities issue administrative detention orders.
The PPS continued that the occupation forces committed a number of crimes and abusive policies against women by brutally storming their homes, using all types of weapons, including police dogs, threatening to kill their children and using obscene words against them, carrying out widespread ransacking operations in their homes.
Among those arrested were former female prisoners, mothers of prisoners, university students, elderly women, and children.
