NABLUS, Thursday, November 2, 2023 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces intensified their restrictive measures today at military checkpoints surrounding the city of Nablus, closing several of them and prohibiting the movement of the Palestinian traffic in and out of the province, according to witnesses.
Witnesses reported that Israeli occupation forces have shut down multiple checkpoints around the city, disrupting the movement of Palestinians in both directions.
Among the checkpoints affected are Huwara, located to the south of Nablus, and Deir Sharaf, on the western entrance to the city. The restrictions also included the checkpoints of Sarra, At-Tanib, and Ennab military checkpoint on the Nablus-Tulkarm Road.
Additionally, Israeli occupation forces ramped up their scrutiny at other checkpoints, conducting thorough inspections of identity cards of those attempting to pass.
Tensions reached a boiling point as violent confrontations erupted between Palestinian civilians and the Israeli occupation military in the village of Deir Sharaf, to the west of Nablus.
The confrontations saw Israeli occupation soldiers fire live and rubber-coated bullets, as well as tear gas canisters, leading to injuries among the Palestinian population. Several individuals were reportedly shot, while others suffered from the effects of tear gas inhalation.
