RAMALLAH, Wednesday, November 1, 2023 (WAFA) – Palestinian prisoners’ advocacy groups today said that the videos seen recently of Israeli occupation forces torturing and humiliating detained Palestinian civilians in conditions degrading to human dignity after stripping them of their clothes are shocking.

They said in a statement that one video of many others showed the occupation soldiers humiliating a detainee and placing the Israeli flag over him while he was blindfolded and bound, while another showed several detainees stripped of their clothes and left in humiliating and degrading conditions.

They added that based on the testimonies obtained from the detainees who were later released, and also from their families, the detainees gave horrific details of systematic and intense crimes, which are constantly on the rise and have reached a stage of direct threats of shooting, in addition to severe beatings, field interrogation, threats of death and rape, use of police dogs, using people as human shields, vandalizing and breaking into homes, assaulting the families of detainees before arresting them, using excessive force during arrest, and using the families of detainees as hostages.

The groups said the occupation authorities commit these crimes openly, supported by world powers without the slightest regard for international conventions and laws the world has bragged about for decades, appealing to the free people of the world to put a stop to these crimes, which remind the world of what happened in the infamous prisons of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo.
