RAMALLAH, Saturday, October 28, 2023 (WAFA) – Horrifying data has emerged regarding systematic crimes being perpetrated by Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian political prisoners since October 7, according to a joint statement by prisoner advocacy organizations.

According to the statement, a campaign of assassination is being practiced against the detainees through systematic acts of torture and abuse by Israeli prison authorities. This campaign coincides with the ongoing Israeli genocide campaign in Gaza.

The organizations detailed some of the measures implemented by the Israeli prison authorities, which have included cutting off electricity in prisoners' cells, prolonged water shortages, and a policy of deliberate starvation. All food items have been withdrawn from their sections, and meal portions have been reduced to a mere two meals.

Furthermore, the canteen services have been entirely shut down, and the provided meals consist of uncooked and insufficient rations, even to the extent of denying access to salt, sugar, and basic necessities.

Armed suppression forces have intensified their raids on all prisoner sections, accompanied by systematic acts of brutal violence and assaults. These operations have involved the use of police dogs, stun grenades, teargas, and batons. Moreover, Israeli authorities have escalated the deprivation of medical treatment.

The organizations further highlighted the deliberate disregard for the health of detainees who have been injured as a result of Israeli violence, with no medical attention provided. Some prisoners have been subjected to interrogations with questions related to the current situation, exacerbating the trauma they already endure.

The already limited space within the cells has been further restricted by an Israeli government decision, with more than 10 detainees crowded in a single room.

The Israeli Prison Service has transferred numerous detainees to solitary confinement cells and continues to isolate detainees further by completely segregating sections from one another, said the organizations. Moreover, in the early days of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, Israel seized all available televisions, electrical appliances, destroyed prisoners' belongings, confiscated their clothing, and left them with a single set of clothes each.

Collective transfers of prisoners between facilities have been conducted with inmates being transferred from one section to another or from one prison to another.

These transfers have been accompanied by physical violence, the intensification of jamming devices, the suspension of family visits, denial of lawyer visitation, and prevention of prisoners from exercising their right to laundry facilities and waste disposal.
