JEDDAH, Friday, October 27, 2023 (WAFA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed deep concern and distress over the tragic events unfolding in Palestine due to wanton Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

This aggression has resulted in the loss of thousands of lives, countless injuries, and a large number of individuals missing under the rubble of demolished buildings. The onslaught has also caused extensive damage to hundreds of homes and crucial infrastructure, leading to severe shortages of water, electricity, fuel, and essential medicines in Gaza.

Furthermore, the Palestinian population has been internally displaced, seeking refuge to avoid indiscriminate strikes.

The OIC General Secretariat has commended the vital role played by Member States in providing essential supplies, including food, medical aid, and necessary materials, and their swift response to the immediate needs of the Palestinian people during this ongoing humanitarian crisis.

It called on Member States to maintain their support and solidarity with the Palestinian people by offering maximum assistance to alleviate the impact of this dire situation.

In light of the escalating humanitarian catastrophe, the OIC emphasized the urgency of delivering aid to the Palestinian people, calling upon Member States and OIC institutions involved in humanitarian activities, as well as humanitarian organizations across the Muslim world, to expedite the provision of critical aid to assist the Palestinian population in coping with the disastrous consequences of the ruthless Israeli aggression.
