President Abbas holds a series of meetings on sidelines of Cairo Peace Summit

CAIRO, Saturday, October 21, 2023 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas held today separate meetings with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and the Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya, Mohamed al-Menfi. The meetings were held on the sidelines of the Cairo Peace Summit, hosted by Egypt.

During the meetings, the President discussed with the Japanese, Italian and Libyan officials – each of them in a separate meeting – the latest developments in Palestine and the ongoing efforts to halt the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, protect civilians from the perils of war, and ensure the urgent delivery of medical and food relief supplies, as well as access to water and electricity, to the people of Gaza.

The President emphasized that peace and security can only be achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions, which call for the recognition of the State of Palestine on the all of the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

The meetings were attended by the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein al-Sheikh, and the President's Diplomatic Affairs Advisor, Majdi al-Khaldi.
