Israeli occupation knocks down two homes west of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, Thursday, October 12, 2023 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation forces demolished two Palestinian-owned homes this evening in the village of Al-Janiya, to the west of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Ismail Samhan, the head of the Al-Janiya Village Council, reported that the Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by heavy bulldozers, stormed the village and demolished two homes belonging to Jad Allah Nassar and Abdel Karim Fakhieh, teo local Palestinian residents.

The Israeli occupation forces claimed the homes were too close to the road used by colonial Israeli settlers from the nearby Talmon settlement, illegally built on the village's land, prompting the occupation authorities to demolish them.

Along with the house demolitions, the Israeli occupation forces also uprooted numerous olive and almond trees in the vicinity.

Samhan further stated that Israeli soldiers resorted to direct gunfire, preventing anyone from approaching the demolition site. This hindered the village council's efforts to assess the extent of damage caused by the demolitions and tree uprooting.
