HEBRON, Thursday, September 28, 2023 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces today removed the main water network in the village of Susiya to the east of Yatta, in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron, said a local activist.
Coordinator of the popular committees against the wall and settlements in southern Hebron, Rateb al-Jabour, informed WAFA that Israeli forces removed the main pipelines that serve the village of Susiya with water. The forces further confiscated the pipelines.
A report issued by the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) in mid-July said the Israeli national water company Mekorot reduced the daily amount of water supply to the provinces of Hebron and Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank by about 6,000 cups per day. PWA described the move as ‘racist’.
“With Israel’s control over 85 percent of the Palestinian water in the occupied territories, Palestinian residents are forced to buy their water needs from the Israeli water company, Mekorot,“ said a joint press release issued by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) in March.
