President Abbas holds talks with the Chinese premier

BEIJING, Thursday, June 15, 2023 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas met today with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang during which he briefed the Chinese Premier on the latest political developments with regard to the Palestinian cause, in addition to the continuous Israeli violations against the Palestinian people that include intensification of settlement activities and violations against Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.

The President discussed with the Chinese Prime Minister ways to implement and develop the strategic partnership between the two countries, activate the mechanism of the joint economic and trade committee, and encourage Chinese companies to invest and work in Palestine.

The meeting was attended by Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Abu Amr, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Malki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestine Investment Fund Muhammad Mustafa, Chief Justice of Palestine, Advisor to the President for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud al-Habbash, Advisor to the President for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Khalidi, and Palestine's Ambassador to China, Fariz Mahdawi.

The President also met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People's Congress, and later laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes in the center of the capital, Beijing, which commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for China's independence.

President Abbas arrived in the People's Republic of China on Tuesday on a three-day official state visit and met yesterday with his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, and oversaw the signing of cooperation agreements between their countries.
