RAMALLAH, Thursday, June 08, 2023 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh stated Thursday that Palestine and Europe stand together in confronting the Israeli occupation and realizing the two-state solution.
Speaking in a celebration of Europe Day in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, Prime Minister Shtayyeh said that Palestine and Europe stand together in confronting Israel’s regime of military occupation as well as for the realization of peace, justice and the two-state solution and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the fulfillment of the Palestinian refugees’ right to return.
The celebration was attended by European Union Representative to Palestine, Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff, together with a host of diplomats and other officials.
Premier Shtayyeh expressed his hopes that that there will come a day when Palestine Day would be celebrated in Europe, while stressing the need to lift Israel’s 15-year blockade on Gaza, dismantle Israel’s apartheid wall that annexes large swaths of the occupied territories and bring the fragmentation of Palestinian geography to an end.
Commenting on his tenure in Palestine, Burgsdorff said that he has experienced first-hand the challenges faced by the Palestinians, their resilience to such challenges and longing to live in freedom and peace, while affirming that Palestinians would sooner or later achieve their freedom.
