RAMALLAH, Thursday, November 10, 2022 (WAFA) – Addressing the thousands of people who gathered in Gaza City to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the death of the iconic Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, President Mahmoud Abbas said that Arafat left behind a rich national heritage that must be preserved and developed, promising to continue on the path of the leaders of the Palestinian revolution.

“There is no state in the West Bank without Gaza, and no state in Gaza without the West Bank and Jerusalem, and we will not accept anything less than an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital,” said President Abbas. “This is what Yasser Arafat entrusted us with, and we are loyal and committed to achieving it.”

President Abbas called on the masses to be prepared for what is coming next, and to thwart the Israeli annexation plans “just as we foiled them before, and as we foiled the conspiracy of the deal of the century, and confronted firmly attempts to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem.”

He said that “the march will continue until achieving our goals of freedom, independence, and the establishment of the independent state with Jerusalem as its capital,” warning that “the division has taken our cause backwards, and threatens to waste the gains our people have achieved, the price of which was high in sacrifices.”
