JERUSALEM, Friday, October 28, 2022 (WAFA) – A Palestinian resident of East Jerusalem was forced today to demolish part of his privately-owned house after he received a demolition order from the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem.
The resident was forced to tear down part of his 130-square-meter house, a home for eight people, in the al-Tur neighborhood to avoid paying exorbitant fees if the Israeli municipality crews demolish it.
Many Palestinians in the occupied city embark on demolishing their own houses to avoid paying the high costs that will be imposed on them by the Israeli municipality.
Using the pretext of building without a permit, which is rarely granted to Palestinians in the occupied city, Israel demolishes Palestinian-owned houses on a regular basis to restrict Palestinian expansion in occupied Jerusalem.
