RAMALLAH, Tuesday, October 25, 2022 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas today congratulated new UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

President Abbas sent a telegram to Sunak expressing his pleasure at the latter’s election as the new leader of the Conservative Party and on assuming the post of the UK Prime Minister and wishing him every success in his tasks.

He stated that he availed himself of this opportunity to voice his interest in engaging with UK Prime Minister Sunk on furthering bilateral relations in the spirit of friendship and cooperation while stressing the importance of the need for UK to exert more efforts to safeguard the two-state solution against collapse and achieve just and comprehensive peace in line with the United Nations resolutions and international law.
