Israeli settlers, backed by soldiers, attack Palestinians in Hebron’s old town, damage shops and vehicles

HEBRON, Saturday, April 23, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers protected and backed by soldiers last night attacked Palestinians in the Israeli-controlled old town of the southern West Bank city of Hebron causing damage to shops and vehicles, reported WAFA correspondent.

He said dozens of settlers threw rocks at the Palestinians’ shops and vehicles in Shalaleh street in the old town while the soldiers were watching and did not intervene to stop them.

The soldiers, however, later joined the settlers in their assault and fired stun grenades at the Palestinians forcing them to shut down their shops and leave the area.

Several shop windows and vehicles were damaged in the assault.

Meanwhile, settlers in Tul Rumeida area of Hebron assaulted a Palestinian family while its members were crossing an army checkpoint.

They also attacked a local activist and tried to prevent him from filming the assault.
