In a call with Al-Sisi, President Abbas commends Egypt's role in intra-Palestinian dialogue

RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 11, 2021 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas made today a phone call with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, during which he commended the role played by Egypt in sponsoring the recent intra-Palestinian national dialogue.

The President expressed his appreciation for Egypt for its long-running efforts to achieve intra-Palestinian national reconciliation and end the division in Palestine. He said the recent dialogue of the Palestinian factions in Cairo achieved remarkable success in the way to facilitating the convening of the national elections as per the decree-law enacted last month.

The President also thanked the brotherly nations of Egypt and Jordan for their joint initiative of holding a meeting of the Arab foreign ministers, which he said was of great importance on the way to supporting the Palestinian cause as a central Arab issue and unifying the Arab position regarding the question of Palestine.

The President underscored his the commitment to holding free and fair elections in all of Palestine, including the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

On the other site, President Al-Sisi expressed his satisfaction with the success of the Palestinian dialogue as a prelude to ending the division, leading to the freedom, independence and statehood of the Palestinian people.

He said Egypt will always remain on the side of the Palestinian cause and national rights in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, and reiterated commitment to consolidating the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
