BAGHDAD, Thursday, December 10, 2020 (WAFA) – Jibril Rajoub, Secretary-General of the ruling Fatah Movement, handed today an official letter from President Mahmoud Abbas to his Iraqi counterpart Barham Salih.

Rajoub, who is on an official visit to Iraq, was welcomed today by the Iraqi leader at the Al Salam Palace in Baghdad, where the two discussed issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Salih affirmed that his country backs a just peace that would lead to the fulfillment of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people in their land.

He told visiting Rajoub that the year 2021 will bring about structural changes to the entire region and will witness new rearrangements.

On the other side, Rajoub thanked the Iraqi leader for his remarks in support of Palestine, and handed him an invitation on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas to visit Palestine.

Rajoub also thanked the Iraqi Council of Representatives for its decision to equalize the Palestinians living in Iraq with their Iraqi counterparts in terms of the rights and duties.
