RAMALLAH, Thursday, November 12, 2020 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas received today a congratulatory letter from the Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 31st anniversary of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence Day which falls on November 15.

"It is my pleasure to extend, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, and on my own behalf, to you and to the friendly Palestinian people my warm congratulations and good wishes," read President Xi's letter.

The Chinese leader added that China and Palestine have deep traditional friendship, noting that the two countries continue to support each other on issues of fundamental interests and common interest.

The Chinese side firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights, he said, adding that China advocates for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause on the basis of international consensus and principles, including the relevant United Nations resolutions and the principle of land for peace.

He pointed out that the Chinese side has been working actively to provide support and assistance to Palestine to fight the coronavirus pandemic, "which gives a new push to the friendly relations between the two countries."

Xi expressed great interest in Sino-Palestinian relations as well as readiness to join efforts in order to expand the circle of friendly exchange and mutual cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of both peoples.
