President Abbas condoles death of Late American Rep. John Lewis

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, July 28, 2020 (WAFA) - The President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas presented his condolences to the family of the US lawmaker John Lewis.

President Abbas extended his condolences to the family of Member of the US House of Representatives, the Late Representative John Lewis, who was one of the symbols of civil rights movements, a defender of freedom and justice in the United States and around the world, and a companion of Martin Luther King, who passed away after a lifetime of struggle and continuous work for freedom, equality and human rights.

President Abbas offered in his letter his deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to his family, while recalling his virtues, ideas and struggle that inspired millions around the world, being a true defender of peace, justice and freedom.

President Abbas stressed that memory of the late Lewis will remain in the hearts and minds of our Palestinian people who share the same values he believed in, in their struggle for freedom, self-determination and independence.

The late Representative John Lewis was a companion of Martin Luther King during the struggle against racial segregation in the United States.
