RAMALLAH, October 10, 2011 (WAFA) - 420 Palestinian prisoners in ‘Gilboa’ Prison Monday joined the open hunger strike to protest the Israeli prisons’ administration’s arbitrary measures practiced against them, said a Palestinian official.
Minister of Prisoners Affairs, Issa Qaraqi called on to declare Wednesday, October 12, a national and popular day to support Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
He said, that the prisoners are threatening to escalate their strike the Irish way; by not drinking water, due to the increasing vicious Israeli attacks against prisoners.
Abed an-Nasir Quzmar, a Palestinian prisoner who is on hunger strike in ‘Ohli Kidar’ prison, said that 56 prisoners have joined the strike; the Israeli administration placed four prisoners in every cell and confiscated all of their personal belongings.
He added that more prisoners are joining the strike each day.
