Military Court Sentences Palestinian to Death

JENIN, October 10, 2011 (WAFA) – A Jenin military court Monday sentenced a Palestinian convicted of murder to death by a firing squad.

The Palestinian, a 22 year old member of the security forces from Jenin who was identified only by his initials, W.A.E., was found guilty of premeditated killing of a shopkeeper from Nablus in his shop in March 2011, illegal possession of a weapon and resisting an officer of the law.

The court found W.A.E. guilty of all counts and sentenced him to death.

However, the sentence cannot be commuted before it is approved by President Mahmoud Abbas.

The convicted Palestinian can appeal the verdict at the Supreme Court.
