RAMALLAH, April 4, 2006 (WAFA) - Palestinian Center for Bureau Statistics (PCBS) reported Tuesday that 789 Palestinian children were killed, constituting 19.7% of the total martyrs, between September 2000 till 28/2/2006.... In a report on the occasion of "National Child Day" 5/4/2006, PCBS added that 346 children were martyred in the West Bank and 441 in Gaza Strip, and 2 Palestinian Israeli children were martyred.... It revealed that during the period from 28/9/2000 to 28/9/ 2005 the total number injured was 43,761 Palestinians, 28,822 were children.... "About 391 Palestinian children were arrested between 28/9/2000, and 28/2/2006," the press release mentioned.... During the Al-Aqsa Intifada, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) attacked 269 schools in different places in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. These schools were forcefully and illegally broken into, teargas and bullets were used against students, and the premises were then bombed. And 498 schools were closed in addition to 1,289 schools were closed at the begging of Al -Aqsa intifada, PCBS added.... The report pointed out that more than a half of the Palestinians (52.6%) were children below the age of 18 years in 2005.... It concluded that during Al-Aqsa intifada, September 29, 2000, till January 20, 2006, 579 students were martyred in the Palestinian Territory, and 7 students from illiteracy centers in Nablus and Hebron, pointing out that the injured student totaled 3,471 during September 29, 2000 to January 20, 2006....
