Arafat: Preventing Children from Reaching their Schools is a Crime
RAMALLAH, April 6, 2004 (WAFA) - On the occasion of the Palestinian Child Day, President Yasser Arafat stressed that Israel’s policy of preventing children from reaching their schools is a crime and inhumane.... Addresssing the children rally at his besieged Headquarters in Ramallah on Monday, Arafat stressed that Plaestinian children would defeat the aggression and the occupation through their high morale.... Arafat pointed out the sufferings of the Palestinian children, and how Israel is preventing them from reaching their schools, describing these acts as" brutal and racist".... Concerning Sharon's statements on withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and from four colonies in the West Bank, Arafat said: “they (the Israelis) should remember the accord which stated Israel's withdrawal from Gaza in 1998 in accordance with the accord with my late peace partner Yitzhak Rabin. These colonies, they recently installed in the West Bank are illegalâ€.... Arafat added that they also must remember the Wye River Accord, with Sharon and Netanyahu, which is based on no more finance for building new colonies, no new house to be added to any colony. The fence of any colony must be only 50 meters away from the last house.... - -
