RAMALLAH, Saturday, May 30, 2020 (WAFA) – The Israeli army killing yesterday of a Palestinian man near Ramallah was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
The papers said the army “executed” the Palestinian man “in cold blood” after alleging he attempted to ram them with his car.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Fadi Samara, 38, from the village of Abu Qash, near Ramallah, was a father of five children and that he was shot dead in cold blood.
His family, said the paper, rejected the Israeli narrative of a car ramming attack and said he was going to bring home his wife and children after the holiday.
It quoted Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh in another story saying that the continuation of the donors meeting is an important message in the face of attempts by the US administration to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
It said Jordan stressed its opposition to Israel’s plans to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.
Al-Ayyam said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to annex half of Area C of the occupied West Bank and ban the Palestinians from building in the other half. Area C makes up over 60 percent of the area of the West Bank and is under full Israeli military rule.
It had a special report about the problems facing the Palestinian public transportation sector in light of the coronavirus pandemic, which it said in another report that 37 recoveries were reported yesterday in East Jerusalem and three corona-related deaths and four new cases confirmed among diaspora Palestinians.
Al-Quds reported further on the corona pandemic at home, in Israel and around the world.
It said 101 new cases were confirmed in Israel yesterday mainly after reopening schools and raising concern of resurgence of the disease following an easing in the lockdown.
The paper reported on the Israeli measures in the occupied territories and on police raid of the home and brief detention and questioning of the head of the Islamic Higher Council in occupied Jerusalem, Ikrima Sabri, and banning him from being at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque for one week.
It said that Muslims held the Friday prayer yesterday outside Bab al-Asbat gate of Al-Aqsa Mosque since the holy compound remains closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus but is scheduled to reopen tomorrow, Sunday, after more than two months of closure.
