Six Palestinians detained from Hebron, Jenin

HEBRON, Wednesday, June 12, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday overnight detained six Palestinians from the West Bank districts of Hebron and Jenin, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS confirmed in a press release that Israeli forces rounded up four Palestinians from the southern West Bank district of Hebron.

Security sources elaborated that a Palestinian was detained from Idhna town, west of Hebron city, another from Sair town, east of Hebron, and another from the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Old City of Hebron.

Meanwhile, PPS added that two more Palestinians were rounded from the northern West Bank district of Jenin.

Local sources explained that Israeli military vehicles raided Jenin refugee camp, where soldiers detained the two Palestinians, including a former prisoner.

During ensuing confrontations, soldiers opened fire towards local youngsters who protested the raid. No injuries were reported though.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
