Newspapers Review: Intrusions into mosques and destruction of property highlight of dailies

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, October 09, 2019 (WAFA) – Intrusions by Jewish fanatics into Al-Aqsa and Ibrahimi mosques in Jerusalem and Hebron respectively as well as destruction of Palestinian property by Jewish settlers were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies today.

Al-Quds said in its main front page headline, “Settlers desecrate Al-Aqsa and Ibrahimi mosques on Day of Atonement.”

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said, “The extremists Ariel and Glick lead hundreds of settlers in their intrusions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Waqf condemns.”

Al-Ayyam said, “One injured in Zeyta, trees burnt in Burin, elderly detained in Hebron, dozens of settlers desecrate Al-Aqsa and Ibrahimi mosques.”

Al-Ayyam also said in another news item that Hamas detained members of a committee working on updating information on government employees in Gaza and al-Hayat al-Jadida added there was wide condemnation of this act.

The two papers also said the government is preparing to pay its employees part of the overdue salaries after Israel has transferred to the Palestinian Authority most of the clearance funds it has kept since February.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Jibril Rjoub, head of the Palestinian Football Association, saying the Palestinian people are going to warmly welcome the Saudi football team expected to play a match in the occupied territories in the middle of this month against a Palestinian team as part of the Asia Cup games.

The paper also reported on the Palestinian prime minister’s visit to Cairo and his meetings there.

Al-Quds said in a report by its Washington correspondent that American Jewish billionaire Sheldon Adelson is financing groups fighting the anti-Israel boycott movement BDS.
