Israeli settlers torch Palestinian bulldozer south of Nablus

NABLUS, August 17, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers late Thursday night torched a Palestinian bulldozer passing between Urif and Asira Al-Qibliya villages, south of Nablus, said a local activist.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors Israeli settlement activity in the northern West Bank, said that settlers from Yitzhar, an illegal settlement inhabited by hardcore fanatic Jews, set fire to a Palestinian bulldozer passing nearby.

He added that settlers from Yitzhar and Eli settlements hurled stones and glass bottles at Palestinian vehicles travelling along Nablus-Tulkarem Road, damaging some 40 vehicles and causing light injuries to passengers.

Settlers’ attacks came in retaliation for the death of a 40-year-old settler woman in a suspected hit-and-run attack near Havat Gilad settlement outpost.

The woman, in her 40s, reportedly sustained serious injuries and paramedics at the scene had to pronounce her dead after resuscitation efforts failed.

The Palestinian taxi driver, 63, reportedly fled the scene, but later turned himself in to Palestinian security forces, insisting that it was an accident and that he fled the scene because he was frightened.

Israeli forces reportedly believed the driver’s assertion.
